GALAPAGOS ABOARD: A Certified and Accredited Travel Company Registered with the Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador

Please review the following terms and conditions carefully. These terms and conditions apply to bookings made through Galapagos Aboard.

Galapagos Aboard exclusively serves as a booking agent for disclosed principal suppliers, such as Galapagos cruises, hotels, airlines, air charters, bus companies, ground transportation providers, boat purveyors, and other independent contractors offering accommodations, transportation, and various services (Tour Suppliers). We do not directly provide travel services; rather, we facilitate bookings. Each Tour Supplier operates independently and is responsible for its own management, operating under the regulations set by the Ministry of Tourism. Our role is to assist you in coordinating your travel arrangements, ensuring that every Tour Supplier we work with is carefully selected and known from our extensive experience to be the best in their respective fields. We have established strong agreements with them to provide you with exceptional experiences during your journey.

Galapagos Aboard has a Limited Ability to Control Tour Supplier Operations:

Galapagos Aboard acknowledges that it has only a limited ability to control the operations of tour suppliers. Therefore, those tour companies or tour suppliers arranging land travel services through Galapagos Aboard do so upon the express condition that Galapagos Aboard shall not be liable for any delay, cancellation, mishap, inconvenience, expense, irregularity, bodily injury, or death to a person or damage to property, occasioned through the conduct or default of any company, individual, or other party engaged in providing these services. Each of these tour suppliers is subject to the laws of Ecuador, and their liability may be limited by their tariffs, conditions of carriage, tickets, vouchers, international conventions, and agreements.

Airline and Service Disruptions:

Galapagos Aboard is not responsible for incidents such as airline cancellations, re-routing, or any disruptions of schedule, service, or accommodation.

Acts Beyond Our Control:

Galapagos Aboard acts as an agent for individual hotels, cruises, and other tour services, and therefore typically assumes no responsibility for injury, loss, or damage to person or property in connection with any service resulting directly from acts of God, detention, annoyance, delays, expenses arising from quarantine, strikes, thefts, pilferage, pandemic, force majeure, failure of any means of conveyance to arrive or depart as scheduled, civil disturbances, terrorism, government restrictions or regulations, any discrepancies or changes in transit or hotel services over which it has no control. Direct Claims: Clients undertake to claim any damages directly from the third-party provider.

Assumption of Risks:

Galapagos Aboard is not liable for the consequences of any accident. Passengers hereby assume responsibility for all risks and release Galapagos Aboard from all claims and causes of action arising from any losses, damages, injuries, or death resulting from risks during a tour.

We are here to assist you in every aspect of your journey, both in expected and unexpected situations, offering expert guidance before, during, and after your trip. As intermediaries between our suppliers and partners, we are committed to seeking the best alternatives for our passengers to ensure exceptional service and a memorable travel experience.

Travel-Medical Insurance: Passenger Responsibility

All our clients are required to have personal travel insurance. It is your responsibility to obtain appropriate insurance. Your travel-medical insurance should cover personal accidents, death, medical expenses, and emergency repatriation. We also strongly recommend that it covers trip cancellation, curtailment, personal liability, and loss of luggage and personal belongings. Galapagos Aboard is not responsible for airline delays or cancellations, personal injuries, accidents, medical expenses, baggage loss, trip interruptions due to weather conditions, pandemics, wars, acts of God, strikes, or any causes beyond our control (Force Majeure Events).

Galapagos Aboard does not provide travel and medical care for trip members. The cost of emergency medical and/or travel evacuation will be the responsibility of each passenger. We do not include travel insurance with our programs, whether in the Galapagos or on the mainland.

Due to circumstances of force majeure or unexpected events, Galapagos Aboard may need to adjust the departure times of its vessels and tours or alter tour programs and itineraries without prior notice. This may include changes due to weather conditions, the forces of nature, wildlife nesting habits, vessel safety, passenger and crew safety, decisions made by the Galapagos National Park, and technical reasons. Under the aforementioned conditions, Galapagos Aboard is not obligated to provide substitutions, replacements of services, or refunds to affected passengers.

Your Health and Special Requirements

Each passenger is responsible for their health condition. All participants must be in good health and physical condition since our programs may include physical activities such as moderate hikes, adventure excursions, dry and wet landings, snorkeling, kayaking, and diving for which you may not be fully prepared. In most activities, you will be required to sign a liability release. You will be informed of the activities included in your program, along with the associated risks. It is your responsibility to inform Galapagos Aboard of any pre-existing medical or physical conditions that could affect your trip.

Furthermore, please inform your trip advisor of any special requirements you may have for your trip arrangements. This could include dietary preferences, allergies, room preferences, or requests for accessible accommodations. Kindly communicate these needs prior to making a booking.

Children: Traveling with Minors

Galapagos Aboard welcomes children and families. However, it’s important to note that children are under the sole responsibility of their parents or legal guardians during the trip. Galapagos Aboard disclaims any liability for accidents involving minors. Some tour suppliers, such as Galapagos cruises, may have specific age requirements that need to be met for participation. Please be aware of these requirements when planning your trip.

Travel Documents and Itinerary Changes

Travel Documents: It is the responsibility of each client to obtain and carry valid travel documents, including a passport (with an expiration date of more than 6 months after the date of departure to Ecuador), a visa (if applicable), and any other documents required by applicable government regulations. Passengers are also required to adhere to the regulations of the Galapagos National Park during their visit.

Itinerary Changes: Itineraries are subject to change for the safety and security of each passenger. Galapagos Aboard and your local guide retain the right to modify your itinerary as necessary. In the case of Galapagos cruises, itineraries are regulated by the Galapagos National Park and may be subject to changes at any time.

Pricing and Liability

Price in USD: All prices quoted are in United States Dollars. Rates are subject to change due to circumstances beyond our control, such as changes in government taxes (including additional VAT), increases in entrance fees, and possible fuel surcharges. We reserve the right to adjust tour prices in the event of extraordinary circumstances, including changes in rates by third-party providers, such as transportation companies, and alterations in taxes, charges, or fees, as well as changes in exchange rates.

Variable Pricing: Our trip prices are subject to variable and seasonal pricing, which is a standard practice within the travel industry. This means that our trip prices may vary over time in accordance with demand, market conditions, and availability. Different passengers on the same trip may be charged different prices. Once you have received a quote, the price will be locked in provided you pay the required deposit before the quote’s expiry. Any reduced pricing or discounts that may become available after you have paid your deposit will not apply. If you wish to cancel your booking to take advantage of a cheaper price, full cancellation conditions will apply.

Price Inclusions and Exclusions: The quoted tour price covers the inclusions as indicated in the tour description. It does not include costs such as vaccination fees, PCR tests, travel insurance, expenses related to travel to and from the start/return point of your tour, including international flights, passport and visa costs, personal equipment, personal expenses while on the tour, and any other expenses that are specifically excluded in the tour description and/or invoice.

Limitation of Liability: Galapagos Aboard’s liability is limited to the tour price paid. We exclude liability for negligence, assistance to individuals, consequential damages, and lost profit. Galapagos Aboard does not assume any liability for the loss, theft, damage, or misuse of personal items, cash, valuables, luggage, photographic equipment, checks, and credit cards.

Galapagos Aboard as an Agent for Tourist Suppliers

Booking Agent Role: Galapagos Aboard serves solely as an intermediary between passengers and tourist suppliers, including airlines, cruises, and hotels. Our travel programs encompass services provided by independent suppliers, such as hotels, airlines, cruises, and other operators. These suppliers are not considered employees of Galapagos Aboard, and they operate in accordance with their own terms and conditions.

Photography/Videos and Promotional Use

Capturing Memories: Galapagos Aboard may capture photos or recordings of our passengers’ trips for promotional and commercial purposes only. Participants in these images or videos will not be entitled to any form of compensation for their use.

Booking Conditions and Legal Jurisdiction

Governing Law: The booking conditions of Galapagos Aboard are subject to the laws in effect in Quito, Ecuador. They are governed by the legal framework of Ecuador.

Exclusive Jurisdiction: Any legal matters related to the booking conditions fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located within Ecuador.

In order for us to finalize your travel arrangements, we kindly request that you provide the following details at the time of booking:

  • Your full name as it appears on your passport.
  • Date of birth
  • Nationality
  • Passport number
  • Passport issuance details
  • Passport expiration date
  • Any pre-existing medical conditions, allergies, or special dietary requirements
  • A copy of your passport

Please be aware that once your travel documents have been issued, any change, update, modification, or correction to your name may incur additional costs. Your cooperation in supplying this information is greatly appreciated and helps ensure a smooth and seamless travel experience.

Payment and Cancellation Policies:

Together with your travel proposal, your Galapagos Aboard travel agent will provide you with the payment and cancellation policies applicable to your program, including deposit requirements for confirmation and deadlines. It’s important to be aware that specific hotels, cruises, and other tour suppliers may have varying booking policies. Galapagos Aboard will duly inform you about their policies, and please note that for selected trips, full payment may be required at an earlier date. Kindly request payment and cancellation policy details for special occasions such as Christmas, New Year, Easter week, and Thanksgiving.

If the deposits or balance are not paid on or before the due date, Galapagos Aboard may be unable to guarantee the services, and we reserve the right to consider your booking as canceled. Please note that refunds do not apply in such cases. Your understanding and compliance with these policies are greatly appreciated.


We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect on the Site includes:

Personal Data

Data from Contests, Giveaways, and Surveys

Personal and other information you may provide when entering contests or giveaways and/or responding to surveys.


Having accurate information about you permits us to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and customized experience. Specifically, we may use information collected about you via the Site to:
